Frequently asked questions

When is Ramadan 2027?

Ramadan 1448 AH is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027 and to end on Monday 8 March 2027, 29 days, according to the Umm al-Qura calendar used in Saudi Arabia. Eid al-Fitr follows on the next day. Countries that rely on a local moon sighting may start a day earlier or later.

What are sehri and iftar?

Sehri (also suhoor) is the pre-dawn meal; it ends at Fajr, when the sun is a fixed angle below the eastern horizon. Iftar is the meal that breaks the fast at Maghrib, the moment of sunset. Both depend only on the sun, so they are different for every city and shift by a minute or two each day.

How are the times on these pages calculated?

Each city uses the calculation method most communities in its country follow (Muslim World League, Egyptian General Authority of Survey, University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi, Islamic Society of North America, Umm al-Qura, Mecca) and the matching Asr rule, computed from the city's coordinates with the same astronomy engine as the rest of Solarc, in local time. Your mosque may publish times that differ by a few minutes if it follows another convention.
